Forth Webinar: Federal Clean Energy Funding and Financing Opportunities
Sep 28 @ 10:00 – 11:00
Forth Webinar: Federal Clean Energy Funding and Financing Opportunities

The U.S. Department of Energy supports a number of clean energy loan and financing programs. Join this webinar to learn more about these programs and how they can help you – whether you are a startup energy business looking to launch a pilot project, a company with proven technology that needs help reaching commercial scale, or a state, local or tribal government looking for funding resources for energy projects.

The USDOE has over $40B in loan authority through various programs, with loans starting at $100M with 25-year terms and a 2% interest rate. Some of the programs can be used to pay for innovative deployment of equipment as well as for commercial business expansion. Right now, much of this money is limited to on-road vehicles and charging, but there is legislation pending to broaden the funding scope to include offroad and MHD vehicles.

Learn more about these DOE financing opportunities and gain insights on developing a strong proposal, from both USDOE speakers and first-hand from a loan recipient.

Forth Webinar: The Charging Infrastructure Ecosystem
Oct 12 @ 10:00 – 11:00
Forth Webinar: The Charging Infrastructure Ecosystem

The availability and accessibility of charging infrastructure is critical to the acceleration of the widespread adoption of clean transportation technologies. Delivery vans, buses, trucks, bikes, and passenger cars all need access to reliable charging for consumers to feel confident in using electric vehicles.

Our panelists will provide updates on the US EV infrastructure plan and strategies and how we successfully and equitably scale infrastructure by taking a close look at policy development from around the globe. We’ll also hear about the Oregon Department of Transportation’s Transportation Electrification Infrastructure Needs Analysis (TEINA). The TEINA study aims to identify the charging needs and gaps across Oregon. Speakers will analyze the needs in the charging infrastructure ecosystem, explore current strategies and more.

Forth Webinar: Addressing Anti-Displacement and Gentrification in Transportation Electrification
Oct 26 @ 10:00 – 11:00
Forth Webinar: Addressing Anti-Displacement and Gentrification in Transportation Electrification

We cannot address equitable access in transportation electrification without discussing community displacement caused by transportation growth. Historically, transportation has been a driving force for displacement and gentrification amongst communities.

Highway construction projects and transit line developments unfairly disrupt and displace the lives of low-income communities  and communities of color. The  Urban Displacement Project utilizes maps of cities to highlight gentrification and displacements and their relation to transportation development. This project was developed by UCLA, UC Berkeley and Portland State University to understand the nature of gentrification and displacement in American cities, with a focus on creating tools to help communities identify the pressures surrounding them and take more effective action.

This webinar will focus on building equitable community leadership to address anti-displacement strategies as the clean transportation industry accelerates. Our panelists will highlight strategies to minimize negative community impacts of gentrification and displacement. How can we focus on charging infrastructure development and policies to avoid unintended displacement or gentrification?

By understanding the injustices that past and present transportation projects have caused in communities, we can use those lessons to develop better practices, policies and relationships to build a better, clean transportation system for all.

Forth Webinar: Centering Equity and Resilience in School Bus Electrification
Nov 9 @ 10:00 – 11:00
Forth Webinar: Centering Equity and Resilience in School Bus Electrification

Clean transportation for all means we need to ensure all modes of transportation transition away from fossil fuel. The utilization of diesel emission buses expose students to high levels of pollution. In April 2021, Congress introduced the Clean Commute for Kids Act to provide $25 billion over 10 years to replace diesel school buses with electric, zero-emission buses. The legislation aims to prioritize communities of color, who disproportionately suffer poor health due to lower air quality.

The transition to electrify school buses began even before the Clean Commute for Kids Act passed. Portland General Electric announced this year that the Beaverton School District received the first electric school buses in Oregon through the 2020 School Bus Electrification Project. The Mid Atlantic Electric School Bus Experience Project (MEEP) is providing school districts in Virginia, Maryland, Pennsylvania, New Jersey and DC with vehicles and information on electric buses, allowing them to gain experience with multiple manufacturers and evaluating the performance of the vehicles to best suit the needs of the districts.

During this webinar, panelists will discuss some upcoming projects in Portland, Oregon and around the country bringing access to electrified school buses for communities. Our speakers will highlight lessons learned from pilot projects, share examples and strategies to allow equitable  access, and discuss scaling opportunities of electric buses.

Forth Webinar: The Business Case For Workplace Charging
Nov 16 @ 10:00 – 11:00
Forth Webinar: The Business Case For Workplace Charging

How can businesses encourage electric transportation? The U.S. Department of Energy (USDOE) launched the Workplace Charging Challenge in 2013 to encourage the installation at workplaces of on-site charging stations. Partnering with organizations committed to providing charging options to their employees, the challenge provided opportunities to develop best practices, lessons learned, as well as templates and tools.

The process to advancing workplace charging includes: evaluation and planning, installing, managing and engaging employees. By evaluating goals and needs, employers are better equipped to select the best workplace solution.

Can workplace charging help bolster your business?

In this webinar, panelists will explore the business case for workplace charging. Kelly Yearick, Senior Program Manager at Forth, will highlight Electric Vehicle Adoption Leadership (EVAL). The program provides a roadmap as well as resources and recognition for organizations as they support the adoption of sustainable modes of transportation at their worksite. Our panel will include current employers offering workplace charging to employees, utilities offering workplace charging assistance and charging station providers.
