The South African uYilo e-Mobility Programme and AVERE are happy to present the joint webinar “Towards Sustainable Mobility in Africa”, taking place on October 21 from 10.00 to 12.00 CEST.
The growing regional integration of Africa allows goods and people to move around more swiftly. This could present new opportunities to kick-start Africa’s electromobility sector. In this context, comprehensive and strategic partnerships between the EU and Africa could also provide solutions to increase the continent’s industrial competitiveness.
In this webinar our associations would like to discuss the best ways in which Africa can harness the opportunities to move towards sustainable transport across the continent in ways that boost the competitiveness of its industries.
We are interested in contributing to the success of zero emission mobility for Africa by:
- Sharing the strength of our work in green mobility – we have learned lessons that can always contribute to its deployment in all countries and continents
- Overcoming together the weakness of a fragmented global response in getting to mass zero-emission transport. This is necessary in our common struggle against climate change.
- Seizing the opportunity to make valuable technologies, like batteries, equally accessible globally.
- Preventing ‘dumping’: it can’t be that industries to deliver highly polluting products in Africa.
Our speakers will include:
David Rubia, Programme Officer, Air Quality and Mobility Unit, Economy Division, UN Environment (Nairobi, Kenya)
Serge Kamuhinda, Director, Business Development for Africa, Volkswagen (Kigali, Rwanda)
Yves Nono, Vice President, Mobility Solutions Sales, Region Africa, Bosch (Johannesburg, South Africa)
