This legislative proposal, combined with other recently proposed legislation such as the Critical Raw Materials Act (CRMA), has the potential to harness Europe's innovative industry and help it thrive in order to achieve Europe's net-zero emissions goals by 2050.
AVERE reaction paper to the Commission’s proposal on reinforced CO2 standards for Heavy-Duty Vehicles (HDV)
AVERE welcomes the European Commission's proposal to strengthen the existing legislative framework setting CO2 standards for Heavy-Duty Vehicles.
Since lorries, buses and coaches are responsible for about a quarter of CO2 emissions from road transport in the EU, their full decarbonisation is a precondition for reaching climate neutrality in 2050. In an intensifying global race for Net-Zero technology leadership, the revision is also necessary in order to safeguard European jobs and competitiveness both in the production of HDVs, as well as the supporting supply chain and broader ecosystem.
AVERE position paper on the upcoming proposal for a new Payment Services Directive (PSD II)
AVERE welcomes the European Commission’s initiative to revise the Payment Services Directive (PSD II). This revision is timely and could help accelerate the transition to sustainable mobility by making charging infrastructure more user-friendly, while reducing the costs and efforts associated with any requirements for payment card readers and processing at charging points under Article 5(2) of the Alternative Fuel Infrastructure Regulation (AFIR).
The PSD II indeed has the potential to smooth out the transition costs associated with the installation of card readers by exempting charging stations from installing card readers with pin-pads. AVERE therefore calls on legislators to provide an exemption for EV charging points from the strong customer authentication (SCA) requirements found in the Payment Services Directive and to raise the payments cap in order to facilitate the roll-out of a widespread and user-friendly charging network throughout Europe.
E-MOBILITY COALITION JOINT STATEMENT – Renewable Energy Directive Trilogues: EU legislators must ensure market conditions to best enable electrification of transport to meet climate target
The revision of Renewable Energy Directive (RED) presents an unmissable opportunity to accelerate the transition of the transport sector towards zero emissions, with direct electrification being the most efficient and cleanest way to achieve it. We need to go beyond just blending biofuels, and battery electric vehicles offer the highest conversion efficiency when compared to other solutions.
Therefore, the undersigned coalition, representing the entire range of the electric mobility ecosystem, call on the interinstitutional negotiators to adequately value electricity for its role in emissions reduction and to ensure a market framework reflecting that fact.
Position Paper: The Revision of the Weights and Dimensions Directive
AVERE strongly welcomes the Commission’s initiative to revise Directive (EU) 2015/719 (“Weights and Dimensions Directive”). The timely revision of the currently applicable framework has the potential to significantly facilitate the uptake of zero-emission heavy duty vehicles (ZE-HDVs), and of battery-electric trucks (BETs) in particular.
