We, the undersigned associations representing different parts of the e-mobility ecosystem, call on the EU institutions to amend the Energy Performance of Building Directive (EPBD) so that EV charging at home or at the workplace becomes easy and accessible for all.
AVERE strongly welcomes the Commission’s initiative to revise the EU’s CO2 standards for Heavy Duty Vehicles (HDV). Lorries, buses and coaches are responsible for about a quarter of CO2 emissions from road transport in the EU, and for some 6% of total EU emissions[1]. Their full decarbonisation is a precondition for the EU’s aim of reaching climate neutrality in 2050.
Europe’s lawmakers must agree on ambitious new climate legislation this year as this is the decade when we have to halve emissions. As extreme droughts, floods and temperatures are increasing in both intensity and frequency, the ‘Fit for 55’ package will determine whether Europe gets on track to reach net zero emissions by 2050 and fulfil the EU’s obligations under the Paris Agreement. It will also determine the future of one of the largest sources of greenhouse gases in Europe: cars and vans.
As negotiations progress on the European Commission’s proposal for an Alternative Fuel Infrastructure Regulation (AFIR), many amendments have been introduced by the European Parliament to include additional gas stations as part of the revision of the legislation. The signatories of this letter urge decision-makers to reject the creation of additional demand for natural gas in transport.
We, the undersigned associations and companies, representing the entire spectrum of the electric mobility ecosystem, call on Parliament and Council to set a true level playing field between zero-emission options in amending the Renewable Energy Directive (RED II), so that they can compete fairly in reaching RES (Renewable Energy Sources) targets for road transport.
